Semester Final: Rudy and Nothing but the Truth
 
For the semester final, students get two full class periods and may work on it at home as well. The final is due on Wednesday, May 13th, at the end of their class period. The questions are below:
 
1. Rudy and Philip both want something in their lives: Rudy wants to play football at Notre Dame and Philip wants to be on his school’s track team. However, they go about their desires differently: explain to me in a minimum of 5-6 well thought out sentences how these two characters approach their dreams. 
2. How do Rudy and Philip deal with rejection and what effect do their actions cause? Cite specific details.
3. What are two distinct lessons that Rudy and Nothing but the Truth teaches us about character? Explain your answer by using specific details.
4. Rudy teaches us that by following your dream with character, discipline, and responsibility you actually gain more than you initially desired. What do you think Rudy actually accomplishes besides playing in a game? Contrastingly, what does Philip accomplish rather than running track? Explain your answer.
5. What is the moral of the story in Rudy? What is the moral of the story in Nothing but the Truth?
6. Out of these two characters, Rudy and Philip, what is one important thing you learned by comparing and contrasting them? Explain in a multi paragraph response.
