  1. Students will complete Part 1: Read Sources pgs. 22-28
  2. Students will answer the questions at the bottom of pgs. 23, 25, 27 & 28. Use complete sentences and answer all parts.
  3. Students will answer the multiple choice questions #1-4 on pg. 29 (Circle each answer)
  4. Students will complete tasks #5 (bullet points are ok) & #6 (use complete sentences; must have at least 3 sentences) on pg. 30
  5. Students will complete the essay organization chart on pg. 31. This is the final step. They will not write out the actual essay.  Bullet points are ok for this chart.
2) AR Reading if finished. If for some reason a student finishes early, have them read their AR books. I do not like when they ask to do homework from other subjects unless they have met their AR goal. Please remind them that I will allow them to take AR tests when I return on Wednesday. No one should ask you for an AR test.
3) Students may also work on their personal narrative drawing from Thursday.  They will turn this into you tomorrow.

1) Draw the illustration to go with your Personal Narrative Project to be displayed at Open House. 
  • Students need to draw and color a scene from the personal narrative essay they wrote in the Fall Semester.  The drawing needs to take up the entire paper and be neat and colorful. Look at the assignment on the wall to the left of the clock. (I have already told the students about this assignment). This is to be displayed next week at Open House.  If a student does not recall his/her topic for the essay, they can go to Google Classroom and re-read the essay. Please have them keep the paper in portrait not landscape just like the samples on the wall. The drawing is due on Tuesday, March 21.

1) Finish Reasons and Evidence Chart. Due Wed. 3/22. Students started this assignment with me before I left.  Remind students that they need to complete all parts of the chart.  They need three reasons to support their claim. They should support adopting pets at a shelter OR purchasing pets from a breeder. Once they have their three reasons, they need to find two specific pieces of evidence to support each reason. Remind them to use direct quotes and label the source (article). Students may need to use the chrome books for this as the articles are posted in Google Classroom.


2) Performance Assessment Booklet pgs. 21-31 Part 3: Perform the Task (only to pg. 31) 

These booklets are stored in the cupboard marked “Close Readers” or behind the second white board. The students know where their class booklets are. Students may take home the booklet or leave it in class.  This assignment is due Wednesday, March 22 when I return. I will be grading ALL tasks listed below.

You are working on this Monday 3/20 & Tuesday 3/21 as well


Students will be working on this assignment for the next few days. Please let them know that they have to complete all parts listed below. I will post this information on my school homework page like I always do each week.
